Getting there

Getting to Xi'an.

Xi'an links its airport to the high-speed rail network with a dedicated intercity railway rather than an ordinary metro branch. The Shaanxi provincial transport department describes the Xi'an North–Airport intercity line as starting at the north square of Xi'an North Railway Station, passing through the T5 terminal area and terminating at Airport West, which serves Terminals 1, 2 and 3. At Xi'an North it offers same-platform transfer to Metro Line 4 and runs through-service with Metro Line 14, so arriving by air and leaving by high-speed rail can be done without changing systems. Note that the airport now operates several terminals in parallel: the Shaanxi provincial government reported that T5 opened on 20 February 2025, and free shuttle buses run between terminals around the clock. Check your terminal on your ticket before planning the rail leg.
