Health Check Packages in China for Foreigners
SinoCareLink arranges health checks at tertiary hospitals and licensed international medical centres in ten Chinese cities. Packages start at $399, and a fully personalized screening is quoted per person. The English report follows in 2–3 weeks. Essential packages take about three hours on one morning; larger packages take four to five hours. We are a booking, interpretation and companion service — we do not diagnose or treat.
Three package tiers, published prices
Every package below is a real, bookable product, and the prices in this table are read live from our booking system each time the page loads — not copied from a brochure. All tiers include hospital coordination, appointment booking and a full English translation of your report, plus the hospital's original Chinese report. After booking a health checkup package you can add an English-speaking medical companion at a discounted US$50 per half day (4 hours; overtime US$25 per hour), or a Japanese-speaking companion at 50% off the standard rate (other languages on request).
| Package | Men | Women | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | $399 | $499 | Ages 20–35, routine annual tracking — metabolic and vital signs, full abdominal ultrasound. About 3 hours. |
| Premium | $599 | $699 | Ages 35+, smokers, or a family history of chronic illness — adds a low-dose chest CT, an advanced cardiac panel and expanded tumour markers. |
| Personalized | Quoted per person built from a short questionnaire | Built item-by-item from a screening questionnaire, with access to advanced imaging such as 3.0T MRI where clinically appropriate. | |
Essential builds your baseline: liver and kidney function, blood lipids, blood sugar, and a full abdominal ultrasound — the metabolic and vital-sign picture, in about three hours. Premium adds a low-dose chest CT, an advanced cardiac panel and an expanded tumour marker panel, and is what we suggest from age 35, for smokers, or where there is a family history of chronic illness; whether a low-dose chest CT is right for you is a question for your doctor. The Premium package's low-dose chest CT uses X-rays (ionizing radiation). If you are or may be pregnant, tell us before booking. Personalized starts from a screening questionnaire and is assembled item by item around your history and concerns, with access to advanced imaging such as 3.0T MRI where clinically appropriate.

Two arrival notes that decide the city for many people. Shenzhen sits 15–30 minutes from the Hong Kong border crossings, and a same-day return trip for a “body check” is routine — see our Hong Kong to Shenzhen body check guide, or what the Elderly Health Care Voucher covers in Shenzhen. Shanghai and Beijing work best if you are already transiting; a screening slips into a stopover without adding a trip. Citizens of some countries can visit China visa-free for up to 30 days for business, tourism, family visits, exchanges or transit. Medical treatment is not on that list, so check the right entry route for your passport with the Chinese embassy or consulate before you book. Check the current position for your nationality in our China visa and entry guide before you book flights.
Beijing
Arrive via Beijing Capital (PEK) or Daxing (PKX). The capital carries the deepest bench of specialist departments in the country, which matters if your screening is likely to lead to a follow-up consultation rather than just a report. Detail and local partner information: health checkup in Beijing.
Shanghai
Arrive via Pudong (PVG) or Hongqiao (SHA). Shanghai is the easiest city to slot a screening into an existing itinerary. Detail: health checkup in Shanghai.
Shenzhen
Arrive via Shenzhen Bao'an (SZX), or simply cross from Hong Kong — the border crossings are 15–30 minutes from the screening centres and a same-day return is routine. This is the standard choice for Hong Kong residents doing an annual “body check” at mainland prices. Detail: health checkup in Shenzhen, or the Hong Kong crossing guide.
Guangzhou
Arrive via Guangzhou Baiyun (CAN). Practical for anyone already working in the Pearl River Delta, and pairs naturally with a Shenzhen or Hong Kong leg. Detail: health checkup in Guangzhou. In Guangzhou for the Canton Fair? See how to fit a checkup or dental appointment around the Fair.
Chengdu
Arrive via Tianfu (TFU) or Shuangliu (CTU). The usual reason to pick Chengdu is that the trip is already happening — a morning screening costs you no extra travel days. Detail: health checkup in Chengdu.
Chongqing
Arrive via Jiangbei (CKG). A southwest hub with direct international routes. Detail: health checkup in Chongqing.
Hangzhou
Arrive via Xiaoshan (HGH), or take high-speed rail from Shanghai in about an hour. Detail: health checkup in Hangzhou.
Xi'an
Arrive via Xianyang (XIY). A natural fit if you are building a screening into a history-focused trip. Detail: health checkup in Xi'an.
Nanjing and Suzhou
Both are on the high-speed rail line from Shanghai, so a screening fits easily into a Shanghai or Yangtze River Delta trip. Detail: health checkup in Nanjing · health checkup in Suzhou.
What checkup day actually looks like
Before you fly, you send us your goals and history; we reply with the package and price we suggest, and send the exact preparation instructions once you book. On the morning, you arrive at the hospital entrance, typically between 8:00 and 10:30; if you have added a medical companion, they meet you there. Fasting bloods come first, then imaging and consultations. Essential packages take about three hours; larger ones take four to five, so they can run past midday. Afterwards, you eat and get on with your day while the hospital works through its normal reporting cycle.
What every package includes, whatever the tier
The tier decides which tests you get. These four things do not change:
- Hospital coordination and booking — we pick the facility and department that can deliver your package, and secure the slot.
- English-speaking coordination — your coordinator handles the booking and your questions before and after the visit; an in-hospital English-speaking medical companion can be added at a discounted US$50 per half day.
- A full English translation of your report — delivered in 2–3 weeks alongside the hospital's original Chinese report.
- Cancellation terms up front — set out in our Cancellation & Refund Policy, which you can read before you pay.
Add-ons sit on top of any tier where the city supports them — for example additional imaging, sedated gastroscopy and colonoscopy, mammography and extended cardiac work. Availability differs by city, so we confirm what is actually bookable before quoting rather than listing everything as if it were universal.
Booking, in three steps
- Tell us what you want screened — your age, your history, anything specific that concerns you, and the dates and city you have in mind. A one-line message is enough to start.
- Get a quote — we reply with the package and price per person and the report timeline. There is no obligation at this point, and no payment.
- Confirm and we book — we secure the hospital slot, send your preparation instructions in writing, and — if you have added a medical companion — introduce the person who will meet you on the morning.
Why book through a medical concierge instead of walking in?
You can walk into a Chinese public hospital yourself. Here is what is genuinely hard to do alone, and what we handle:
- Hospital coordination — choosing a hospital and department that actually offers the package you want, and booking slots that are released through Chinese-language systems.
- Medical interpretation — an optional bilingual companion beside you at every station, including the questions the doctors ask you (US$50 per half day when added to a checkup package).
- One person responsible — a single thread from your first question through to report delivery, rather than a different desk at every step.
- Transparent pricing — package and add-on prices are published on our booking pages; anything outside them is quoted separately.
What we do not do
We are a booking, interpretation and companion service. We do not diagnose, treat, or give medical advice. Test selection beyond the standard packages follows your own doctor's guidance or the hospital physician's recommendation. We do not promise any medical outcome, and a screening result is not a substitute for seeing a doctor about symptoms.
Before you pay anything
If you enquire before booking, we reply with the package and price per person and the report timeline, with no obligation to book — compare it against any other provider before you decide. If you book a package directly online, the itemised test list and booking confirmation are emailed to you after purchase.
What you actually get back — the report
A Chinese hospital screening report is a dense, itemised document: every measured value, its reference range, the radiologist's and sonographer's descriptions, and a summary section where the physician lists what stood out and what to do about it. You receive that original, plus a full English translation of it; we do not add a medical verdict of our own.
If something is flagged, you have three ordinary options and we can arrange any of them as a booking service: a follow-up consultation at the same hospital while you are still in China, a remote second opinion afterwards, or simply taking the report home to your own doctor. The medical judgement is the physicians', in China or at home — not ours.
How this compares with screening at home
The reason people fly for a checkup is that the same imaging and laboratory work costs several times more in the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia — and in single-payer systems the wait for non-urgent scans can run to months. We have written the comparison out in detail rather than asserting it here: see the cheapest countries for a full body checkup and the US, UK, China and Thailand cost comparison. If you are weighing China against another destination, China versus Korea and China versus Thailand cover the trade-offs beyond price.
Who this is for — and who it is not for
A good fit: adults due an annual checkup who want a thorough screening at Chinese prices; visitors already coming to China for business or travel; Hong Kong residents crossing to Shenzhen; and adult children arranging a thorough screening for visiting parents, where we adjust the item list for age and mobility.
Not a good fit: anyone with acute symptoms — that needs a doctor, not a screening; travellers who cannot commit to a morning slot; and anyone needing procedures we do not arrange.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a health check in China cost? From $399 for Men's Essential and $499 for Women's Essential; Premium is $599 / $699. Personalized screening is quoted per person — see the tables above.
Do I need a visa? Most short-stay visitors enter visa-free or on a transit exemption. Rules change by nationality; check our visa and entry guide.
Can I get the results in English? Yes — a full English translation of your report in 2–3 weeks, plus the hospital's original Chinese report.
Which city should I choose? Proximity to the rest of your trip, budget, and what you want screened. Base prices are the same everywhere; personalized screening is quoted per person.
Is one morning really enough? Yes for Essential — about three hours. Larger packages take four to five hours; with an 8:00 start, expect to finish around midday or early afternoon. Gastroscopy or colonoscopy is booked separately and may add a day.
Can my spouse or parents join? Yes. Several people can be scheduled the same morning, quoted per person, with item lists adjusted for age.
What kind of hospitals do you use? Tertiary hospitals (public or private) or, depending on the city, a licensed international medical centre; we name the specific facility when we confirm your appointment. We are the booking and companion layer; the medical judgement stays with the hospital physicians.
What if I need to cancel? The cancellation terms are set out in our Cancellation & Refund Policy, which you can read before you pay.
