Getting there

Getting to Suzhou.

Suzhou has no civil airport of its own, so almost every international arrival comes through Shanghai and continues by high-speed rail. The Suzhou municipal government's English site states that Suzhou is just 15 minutes from Shanghai by train. That short hop is the main reason a Suzhou appointment can work as a same-day trip from a Shanghai hotel rather than requiring a local overnight stay. Rail capacity here is still expanding: the Shanghai–Suzhou–Huzhou high-speed railway runs from Shanghai Hongqiao and includes a Suzhou South station, and Suzhou North Railway Station is being rebuilt as a larger integrated hub, scheduled to open together with the Nantong–Suzhou–Jiaxing–Ningbo high-speed railway at the end of 2027.
