Clinical use
Mammography is the standard imaging modality for routine breast cancer screening in adults of average risk. For women with dense breast tissue (common in younger or East Asian women), it is often paired with a high-frequency breast ultrasound for higher sensitivity. Discuss with your physician whether mammography, ultrasound, or both is appropriate.
Recommended frequency
USPSTF: every 2 years from age 50 to 74. ACOG: annual or biennial from age 40+. Earlier screening recommended for women with family history of breast cancer or BRCA carriers.
Turnaround
Most reports released 24–48 hours after exam. English translation typically adds 48-72 hours.
