Why Shingrix? Why Now?

Shingrix is the modern recombinant zoster vaccine developed by GSK — the same vaccine recommended by the US CDC, UK NHS, and Chinese CDC for adults aged 50 and older. It replaces the older Zostavax live-attenuated vaccine and provides over 90% protection against shingles (herpes zoster) and postherpetic neuralgia, with durability beyond 10 years in published clinical data.

Under Shenzhen's current public health promotion, eligible patients who receive their first Shingrix dose before June 30, 2026 receive the second dose free of charge. The promotion does not apply outside Shenzhen — Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou follow standard pricing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get Shingrix as a foreign visitor on a tourist visa?

Yes, foreign visitors are eligible at partnered Grade-3A hospitals and community health centers. The buy-one-get-one Shenzhen promotion typically also applies to foreign visitors — SinoCareLink confirms on-site eligibility at booking.

What is the difference between Shingrix and Zostavax?

Shingrix is a recombinant subunit vaccine (non-live), suitable for immunocompromised adults. Zostavax is a live-attenuated vaccine, increasingly being replaced by Shingrix worldwide due to superior efficacy and broader eligibility.

Is the Shingrix in China the same as in the US or UK?

Yes. The Shingrix supplied in mainland Chinese hospitals is GSK's globally distributed product, manufactured under the same standards.

What if I'm allergic to the first dose?

If you experience a severe allergic reaction to Dose 1, you should not receive Dose 2. SinoCareLink will support you in obtaining an English-language clinical documentation and recommendations for follow-up care.

What if I miss the 6/30 deadline?

You can still receive Shingrix at standard pricing (RMB 1,650 per dose × 2 doses ≈ $471 USD total). The buy-one-get-one promotion is specific to Shenzhen and time-limited.

Can I get the second dose somewhere else?

Yes. Shingrix Dose 2 can be administered at any vaccination-eligible facility. SinoCareLink coordinates within the partnered network — contact us if you want to receive Dose 2 in a different city.

Are there any age limits at the top end?

No upper age limit. Shingrix is recommended and safe for all adults 50 and older. The vaccine's efficacy remains high even in older adults.
