Hong Kong to Shenzhen Cross-Border Health Checkup: Same-Day Return Guide

Hong Kong naar Shenzhen Gezondheidscontrole: Prijzen vanaf $399, Boeking & Dagguide (2026)

Per 3 September 2026, a full body check (health checkup) in Shenzhen through SinoCareLink costs US$399 (Men's Essential), US$499 (Women's Essential), US$599 (Men's Premium) or US$699 (Women's Premium) at a Grade 3A hospital, typically completed in one morning[1]. A bilingual companion for four hours on site is US$50 when bundled with a package, sedated gastroscopy and colonoscopy is from US$400, and single imaging add-ons such as a mammogram or thyroid ultrasound are US$100 each[2][3][4][5]. Most of our Hong Kong clients cross at Futian or Shenzhen Bay, arrive fasted for a 9:00 start, finish the tests by lunch and are back in Hong Kong by late afternoon. Preliminary findings are discussed with the physician on the day; the full English report follows in two to three weeks[1]. This guide puts the prices first, then the crossing, what your documents and insurance do for you, and when the trip is not worth making.

Price guide by SinoCareLink, which coordinates the Shenzhen packages priced here. Not medical advice; screening packages are chosen with a physician at intake. Prices checked 3 September 2026 and may change.

Key facts: Shenzhen body check prices for Hong Kong residents (2026)

  • Packages (USD): Essential $399 (men) / $499 (women); Premium $599 (men) / $699 (women) — Grade 3A hospital, fasting required; Essential takes about 3 hours on site, Premium can run into early afternoon[1].
  • Add-ons, each priced separately: bilingual companion $50 (half day, 4 hours, bundled with a checkup) or $100 (half day standalone), $200 full day; sedated gastroscopy + colonoscopy from $400; mammogram $100; breast, thyroid or pelvic ultrasound $100 each; coronary CT angiography $200; low-dose chest CT $100; whole-body MRI from $399 (1.5T outpatient clinic) or $599 (3.0T hospital); priority booking $100, subject to hospital availability[2][3][4][5][7][8][9][11].
  • Reports: English report and physician summary in two to three weeks; preliminary findings discussed on the day. We do not promise same-day reports[1].
  • Documents: Hong Kong residents of Chinese nationality cross with the Home Return Permit (回乡证) and bring HKID as well; the hospital registers you with either. Other nationalities travel on their passport and check China's entry rules for their nationality[6].
  • Crossing: Futian (East Rail) for most of our bookings, Shenzhen Bay from Hong Kong Island; a 9:00 start means crossing in the morning peak, so budget 60–90 minutes door to hospital[10].

Every package is booked at a Grade 3A hospital — China's top hospital tier, usually HKU-Shenzhen Hospital in Futian for our Shenzhen bookings — with an English-speaking coordinator, and the exact item list for your tier is sent with your booking confirmation[1][12]. Our Shenzhen health checkup packages guide walks through the test list item by item; this page stays on the cross-border price and logistics questions Hong Kong residents ask.

Hong Kong vs Shenzhen: where the price gap actually sits

We do not publish third-party package prices for Hong Kong private clinics here, because package contents vary too much for a fair headline comparison. The like-for-like comparison is test by test. Our Hong Kong to Shenzhen body check page sets published Hong Kong private-clinic imaging prices (Trinity Medical's September 2026 price list, in Hong Kong dollars) against our Shenzhen prices in US dollars: a bilateral 3D mammogram at HK$2,880 against US$100 for bilateral digital mammography (the Shenzhen add-on is not listed as 3D), coronary CT angiography at HK$5,060 against US$200, and a low-dose chest CT at HK$1,655 against US$100. The two columns are in different currencies and no conversion is applied; protocols may differ between providers[6]. The other Hong Kong route — public-sector screening programmes — covers specific tests for eligible groups and can involve waiting; a routine full-body screen for a healthy adult is generally not something a public hospital provides. That is the trade-off most of our Hong Kong clients describe: a fixed-price screening now.

What the price includes — and what it does not

Included: the hospital appointment at a Grade 3A hospital, the full test list for your tier, physician review, an English-speaking coordinator before and during the visit, and the English report and physician summary that follow in two to three weeks[1]. Priced separately: the bilingual companion, endoscopy, imaging add-ons and priority booking listed above. Not included: transport and accommodation, prescription medication, any treatment or specialist consultation arising from findings, and insurance claim filing — we provide itemised receipts and translated reports for you to submit[12].

Crossing, timing and the same-day return

Futian (Lok Ma Chau, East Rail Line) is the crossing we recommend for most bookings: it connects directly to Shenzhen Metro Line 4 and suits Futian-district hospitals. Shenzhen Bay is the better option from Hong Kong Island by coach or private car, and is usually the faster crossing because most traffic is by vehicle[10]. A 9:00 fasting start means you cross inside the weekday morning peak, so budget 60–90 minutes door to hospital; save the rush-hour warnings for the return (avoid 17:30–19:30) and for Saturday mornings[10]. The day itself: leave Central or Kowloon by 07:30 fasted since 22:00; registration, blood draw and the fasting items such as abdominal ultrasound first, then the rest of the imaging and examination block with a physician conversation about preliminary findings; eat once your coordinator confirms the fasting items are done. Essential packages finish by lunch, Premium can run into early afternoon, and most clients are home by late afternoon[1]. Remaining laboratory results, the translated report and the physician summary arrive by email in two to three weeks, with a call to walk you through them; we do not promise same-day reports[1]. Documents, insurance and paying on the mainland side

  • Documents: Hong Kong residents of Chinese nationality cross with the Home Return Permit (回乡证) — bring your HKID as well; the hospital registers you with either. Other nationalities travel on their passport and should check China's current entry rules for their nationality on our China entry and visa guide and with the Chinese embassy before travelling[6].
  • Insurance: some Hong Kong insurers have direct-billing arrangements with particular Shenzhen hospitals — this does not apply to packages invoiced by SinoCareLink. Most clients pay out of pocket for a screening package because routine screening is often excluded or capped under Hong Kong medical policies, and claim with the English invoice we provide where their policy allows. Check your own policy before you cross; our cross-border insurance guide explains what to ask.
  • Payment: SinoCareLink invoices the package in USD and settles with the hospital, so you do not queue at the hospital cashier. For meals, taxis and shopping, AlipayHK and WeChat Pay HK work across Shenzhen; international cards are accepted at hotel chains and larger restaurants; a small amount of RMB cash is a useful backup.

When the same-day trip is not the right choice

  • U hebt symptomen.

Hoe boeken vanuit Hong Kong
