Brain + Heart PET-CT Add-On — China
Brain + Heart PET-CT Add-On — China
No se pudo cargar la disponibilidad de retiro
Combined regional PET-CT covering brain and heart — for patients investigating both cognitive symptoms and cardiac inflammation or viability in a single visit.
What's included
- Appointment booking at a partnered Grade-3A hospital with PET-CT capability
- Pre-scan dietary instructions (cardiac PET requires 24-hour high-fat low-carb prep)
- Pre-scan check-in support and on-site coordination
- Full English-language report translation
Clinical use
Brain PET-CT addresses dementia patterns, brain tumor recurrence, or epilepsy focus. Cardiac PET addresses suspected cardiac sarcoidosis, myocardial viability after MI, or stress-rest perfusion. Combining both into one trip is useful for patients with mixed concerns (sarcoidosis, neuro-cardiac inflammation, longitudinal monitoring).
Procedure overview
Cardiac sarcoid prep is critical: 24-hour high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet pre-scan to suppress normal myocardial glucose uptake. Failed prep can render the cardiac scan uninterpretable. Brain PET requires standard 6-hour fasting. Total clinic time approximately 2.5–3.5 hours.
Turnaround
Most reports released 24–48 hours after scan. English translation typically adds 24–48 hours.
🩺 Before Your Scan — Preparation Instructions
- Fast 4–6 hours before the scan — plain water is allowed and encouraged. No food, sugar, gum, candy, or sweetened/caffeinated drinks.
- Low-carbohydrate diet for 24 hours before (avoid rice, noodles, bread, potatoes, sweets, fruit, sugary drinks). You may eat lean meat, eggs, leafy greens, unsweetened soy, and a little healthy fat.
- Blood sugar must be ≤ 11.1 mmol/L (≈200 mg/dL) on the day; if it is too high the scan may be rescheduled.
- If you are diabetic or use insulin, tell us in advance to coordinate timing, and carry sugar/candy in case of a low-blood-sugar episode.
- Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours before. Wear warm, metal-free clothing. After the tracer injection you rest quietly for ~60 minutes (especially important for brain scans).
- Afterward, drink plenty of water and keep some distance from pregnant women and young children for a few hours.
- Routine FDG-PET-CT uses no iodinated contrast, so no kidney-function test is needed for the PET scan.
Heart PET — special diet (required): for the 12–24 hours before the scan, eat only high-fat foods and no carbohydrates (e.g. butter, eggs, fatty meat, nuts, olive oil, unsweetened yogurt; avoid all rice, noodles, potatoes, sugar, fruit, and grains), then fast for at least 6 hours. This diet is essential for clear heart images — your coordinator will send the detailed food list.
These are general guidelines. Your SinoCareLink coordinator will confirm the exact instructions for your appointment based on your health profile and the hospital’s requirements. Any contrast dye needed is provided by the hospital and included in your package.
